Podcasts/Instructional Technology

This "podcast project" is a result of the AT&T "Early Educators" grant. (Please see description of the AT&T project under the "Spotlight On" section of our website.) Ten high schools in the Delta and surrounding area have received instructional equipment and 30 iPod touch units to use in tutorial programs between high school students and younger students. Delta State University and Mississippi Valley State University have also received the same instructional components for use in their teacher preparation coursework and in their students' field experiences. PREPS (Program of Research and Evaluation for Public Schools) at Mississippi State University is under contract to develop the podcasts for Math and English/Language Arts over a two-year period based on a critical analysis of the most challenging competencies as reflected by student performance statewide tests (MCT2 and SATP). As the podcasts are developed and approved, they are placed on the CEI eResources portal for use by the "Early Educators" grant recipients, by teachers and parents across the state of Mississippi and colleges of teacher preparation.

A new partnership between Corinth School District and CEI is underway to create instructional podcasts for parents of PK-2nd students with a focus on literacy and numeracy for student success. ( For additional information, go to “Videos” and click on “Corinth School District Podcasts Project.”) They are here! Posted under Resources for Parents!

"Continuity of Learning"

In cooperation with the US Dept of Education, Apple launched a new iTunes U site called "Continuity of Learning". This site links to educator-selected content from across all public iTunes U sites. These collections can be used by K12 students and teachers to help ensure continuity of learning in the case of a pandemic or natural disaster. (It is also really great content for sunny, healthy days inside and outside the classroom.) This is the link to the new iTunes U site:
