    “The Parent Podcast Project”

The Center for Education and the Corinth School District formed an additional partnership in 2010 to create (using Corinth teachers’ early childhood expertise) and build (using the Corinth students’ technology expertise) a series of videos for parents of Pre-K through 2nd grade children. The videos explain, with examples, important early learning concepts and skills which are found in the Mississippi Curriculum Framework for Reading and Mathematics.

The Center and the Corinth teachers collaborated on what we considered essential topics for parents to understand about early learning in grades PK-2. The videos focus on the purpose of the skill, where it falls in relation to the scope of PK-2nd instruction, and how the parent can use items at home to reinforce the learning of each skill.

The videos may be downloaded on an iPod or used as a stand-alone video from the Center’s eResources page for information and/or instruction. There are a total of 47 videos for PreK-Second Grade At the conclusion of the project, DVDs of the videos will be shared with early childhood providers in the Corinth School District and with the early childhood providers partnering with The Center for Education Innovation.
